Interior Sketching in Watercolour

Master Watercolour Techniques for Your Interior Design Drawings

✍🏼

(Level: Basic to Comprehensive)

This course is beginner-friendly

Master watercolour technique from scratch for your interior drawings.

💦 Water is life. Watercolour is literally water with colour. To me, watercolour is life as well, it is transparent and expressive at the same time, always new, and just beautiful. Love it 💙

Many artists value it higher than any other technique and say that's it is the hardest technique to master.

Watercolour is special for me, it was the first "paint" technique I started learning at the age of six y.o. at the child's art school "Alexandrino" (before that, I could only put my hands on crayons, kids' pastels, and markers). It is with me my entire life: from the child's art school, through my 6 years at the St. Petersburg Stieglitz Art Academy, and now in my "adult" life:-)

You can see some of my watercolour drawings with the hashtag #watercolourOlgaSorokina on Instagram.

In this course, I would like to share not only the secrets of this mystical technique, but also my love and affection towards it. I'm sure, you will feel the love and get inspired for your own creative practice.

What we will draw in this course.

We will accomplish five watercolours, here they are:

1. Intro Lesson

(Where you will get the very basics and cornerstones of watercolour technique and 1-point perspective drawing)

2. Scandinavian-Style Room

3. Artist's Studio

4. Rococo Chair

5. "Old-School" Watercolour Technique: Bedroom Interior Drawing with a Preliminary Black & White Sketch

How long is each lesson?

Some lessons are hour-long, some are an hour and a half. Each lesson consists of several parts, usually, 10 to 25 min long so the information will be super digestible, inspiring, and easily learned. From my experience, this is the best format and my students hugely benefit from it, no matter which level they are at, beginner or advanced.

How long is the course and how long will it take me to go through the lessons?

There are 6+ hours of great and professionally-edited content (trust me, you will gain great knowledge and skills after dedicating these hours). Generally, it takes my students somewhere from 2 weeks to 2 months to deeply go through the content. It depends on how much time you have daily to immerse yourself in the course.

Student's drawings from the course

Here are a couple of examples of what your peers achieved after taking this course. Plus, I added some photos from my live classes as the content of this online course was battle-tested during in-person workshops.

From what used to be one of my favourite and most demanded in-person workshops -- to this online course...

Who is this course for?

You will greatly benefit from taking this online course if you are:

• An interior designer/architect

• An interior design/architecture student

• A sketch artist and want to widen your range of techniques and up-level your skills

Materials we will be using in this course

Here are some of my favourite tools:

• Pencils. I like pencils from Palomino Blakwing (Pearl) and Koh-i-noor (2B, 4B)

• Liners or pens: multilines, fineliners, dip pens, fountain pens, even regular black ink gel pen

• Paper: I recommend using watercolour paper which is 100% cotton, 300 g paper weight (Brands like Hahnemühle, Jumbo, Arches, Canson, etc)

• Brushes: we want to have at least two brushes for this course - thin and thick, I use No. 4 and No. 8, synthetic), natural or synthetic.

• Watercolour Paint: it can be a watercolour set or separate paints, essential colours for us will be:

cadmium yellow,

golden ocher,

burnt umber or burnt sienna,

cobalt blue

ultramarine,

black

• Additional materials: a glass or water container, paper napkins or paper towel, palette: mixing palette or you can simply use a piece of your watercolour paper
